Hair Removal Q & A

A: All hair removal lasers work by targeting the pigment within the follicle, which means that darker your hair, the easier it will be to treat. However, today’s lasers, such as Clarity, treat a full spectrum of skin types and hair color. Your physician will develop a treatment course that is right for you.

A: Yes, Clarity has two wavelengths that allow us to treat the entire spectrum of skin color.

A: Side effects are usually mild. The skin may appear red – similar to a sunburn – but this subsides within 24-48 hours. Other side effects, such as blisters, are extremely rare.

A: Your doctor will provide you with detailed instructions. Usually the area to be treated should be shaved first to ensure a more comfortable and effective treatment.

A: The treatment could take only 2 minutes, or more than 15, depending on the size of the area. For example, the treatment of an upper lip or chin may only take 2 minutes, whereas a back will take closer to 10.

A: Hair grows in cycles and most patients need at least 3 or more treatments spaced at least 4-8 weeks apart for a satisfactory result. You may see results beginning with your first treatment, however, be sure to follow your physician’s treatment regimen for the best results.
